OH… and if you were not part of the curiosity crowd AND you missed the articles in the Republican-American let me give you a glimpse of what happened on June 13th.
The Contemporary Worship Service was held out under the stars, amongst the CARDBOARD.
The Jr. Group, some of the Sr. Group and friends slept on the church front lawn in shelters made from cardboard in attempt to gain a deeper understanding of what it
feels like to do without our daily comforts.
On Saturday morning, after fasting through the night, the group prepared and served lunch at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen in Waterbury. After having prepared, served and cleaned up after those eating at the soup kitchen that day, the group broke their fast together, eating the same meal they helped prepare for those less fortunate than themselves. (1/2 the grp. fasted)
This was an experience that will not soon be forgotten.
They already are asking to serve again.
Jesus said,
"If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
John 8:31-32
