The Mitimingi's are Coming!

The Board of Outreach is pleased to welcome Peter & Patience Mitimingi

Directors of Christian Leadership Training for International Christian Ministries in Tanzania, Africa

The Mitimingi's were hosts and translators for the team from First Congregational that served in Tanzania in 2006. Peter & Patience have been attending training and other events in California and Georgia, and will visit with us before returning to Africa on November 1.

In addition to traveling throughout the wild and beautiful countryside of the land of the Serengeti, the Mitimingi's also have a large ministry to teenagers in Tanzania's city of 3 million, Dar es Salaam. During our 10 a.m. worship service Peter will speak to the congregation, while Patience will address Junior Church.

The Visit of Peter and Patience Mitimingi will include

  • Peter teaching at the Adult Sunday School Class in the church Lounge at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
  • Patience teaching the children at 9, during the Children's Sermon of the worship service, and during Junior Church.
  • A Lunch following the worship service in the Auditorium during which Peter and Patience will tell more about their experiences and answer our questions.
  • Visits to local schools to describe the culture to students there.
  • A trip to New York City where they will speak to members of the Chinese Conservative Baptist Church in Manhattan's Chinatown (Pastor Isaac Ngai is a classmate of Pastor Smith's).

Peter and Patience (the translation of her given name in Swahili - Subhira)at the Mkeme Game Park in Tanzania at which trip Peter, riding with the Thomaston team, warned us about the elephant that was bearing down on our van!

The Trip that Started it All!

Having supported missionary leader Greg Snell for more than ten years as he helped the East African church develop leaders, his encouragement  for us to visit began  to let us know that there really was service we could give to our Christian brothers and sisters in the land of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti. Our entire church continues to be impacted by our 2006 visit.

While many Gujerati at All Nations Believer's Church are from Muslim background, the Indians gathering in this location are all former Hindu's.
